概要
ヨーロッパクサリヘビ（Vipera berus）の咬傷治療に使用される特異的免疫グロブリン（抗毒素）。
臨床上の警告： 抗毒素の価値は咬傷からの時間経過とともに低下します。局所の腫脹に対する効果は咬傷後24時間以内の投与に限られますが、全身症状が存在する場合、24時間以降の投与でも効果が持続します。
臨床のポイント： 小動物における回復時間の短縮を決定的に裏付ける報告はありませんが、重度の毒物に対する決定的な治療法です。この抗毒素は他のヘビの咬傷には効果がない可能性が高く、他のヘビ咬傷の場合は直ちに専門家の助けを求める必要があります。英国では、VPIS ToxBoxサービスを通じて緊急提供が可能な場合があります。
作用機序
Contains specific immunoglobulins (typically equine-derived F(ab')2 fragments) raised against Vipera berus venom. These antibodies directly bind to and neutralize the circulating venom toxins → preventing further tissue damage, coagulopathy, and systemic toxic effects.

- No specific contraindications available, but use with extreme caution in animals with known hypersensitivity to equine proteins.

注意事項
Anaphylaxis Risk: Equine-derived antivenoms carry a significant risk of hypersensitivity/anaphylaxis. It is strongly recommended to administer a small test dose (e.g., 0.5 ml IV) and observe for 20 minutes before administering the full dose.
- Supply & Import: In the UK, current approved suppliers can be found on the VMD website. A special dispensation from the VMD can enable supply, purchase, and use prior to STC approval in urgent cases.

- Progression or resolution of local swelling
