概要
ジミナゼンアセチュレート（Diminazene aceturate）は、主に抗原虫薬として使用される芳香族ジアミジン誘導体です。バベシア（Babesia）およびトリパノソーマ（Trypanosoma）種に対して高い有効性を示します。米国ではFDAの承認を受けていませんが、マダニやツェツェバエが媒介する家畜や伴侶動物の疾患に対して世界中で広く使用されています。
臨床のポイント：
- 標準的なアジスロマイシン/アトバコンのプロトコルが失敗した場合、犬のバベシア・ギブソニ（Babesia gibsoni）感染症のレスキュー療法として使用されることがよくありますが、原虫血症を完全に排除するのではなく、抑制するにとどまる場合があります。
- 薬物の代謝が遅いため、単回投与後数週間にわたり臨床症状の再発抑制や予防効果が得られます。
- 特定のFDAガイドラインに基づき、動物へのコンパッショネートユース（人道的利用）目的で米国に合法的に輸入することができます。
作用機序
Diminazene binds to the AT-rich regions of the kinetoplast DNA in protozoa, interfering with DNA synthesis and replication. It is also thought to inhibit aerobic glycolysis, depriving the parasite of essential energy.
Mechanism Pathway: Drug enters protozoan → Binds kinetoplast DNA & inhibits aerobic glycolysis → Halts parasite replication → Allows host immune system to clear or suppress the infection.

- Camelids (highly susceptible to toxic effects)

- Pain and swelling at the injection site
- Transient decreases in blood pressure
- Ataxia (rare, <0.1%)
- Seizures (rare, <0.1%)
- Death (rare, <0.1%)
注意事項
Use with extreme caution in dogs at doses of 7 mg/kg or higher due to a significantly increased risk of severe neurotoxicity. Camels are highly susceptible to toxicity and the drug is generally contraindicated in camelids. Safety for nursing offspring has not been established as the drug distributes into milk.

Rapidly absorbed after IM administration in target species.
分布
Distributed rapidly; high levels can be found in the liver and kidney. Enters the CSF at levels significantly lower than plasma in healthy animals, but CSF levels are higher in dogs with meningeal inflammation. Distributes into milk.

Metabolized somewhat in the liver, though it is unknown if metabolites possess anti-protozoal activity.
消失
Elimination half-lives are reportedly widely variable, with wide inter-patient variability noted even within individual studies.
過剰投与
Diminazene appears most toxic in dogs and camels.
- Camels: Dosages greater than 7 mg/kg can be very toxic.
- Dogs: Dosages above 10 mg/kg IM can cause severe gastrointestinal, respiratory, nervous system, or musculoskeletal effects.

保管・安定性
Store powder, granules, or packets in a dry, cool place out of direct sunlight. Once reconstituted, the solution's stability is temperature dependent: up to 14 days when refrigerated, up to 5 days at 20°C, and only for 24 hours at temperatures above 50°C.
