概要

ガンシクロビルは、主に​猫ヘルペスウイルス1型（FHV-1）​の眼感染症の管理に使用される抗ウイルス薬です。in vitroの研究では、FHV-1に対してアシクロビルの少なくとも10倍の有効性があることが示されています。

​臨床上の警告:​ 潜伏感染を根絶することはできません。局所使用に関する経験的な報告は有望ですが、猫における安全性や薬物動態は報告されていません。難治性および重度のFHV-1潰瘍の症例では、局所または全身性の抗ウイルス薬を含む併用療法を使用することができます。

作用機序

Ganciclovir inhibits viral replication by targeting viral DNA polymerase. It depends on viral thymidine kinase for initial phosphorylation → converted to active ganciclovir triphosphate by cellular enzymes → competitive inhibition of viral DNA polymerase → termination of viral DNA chain elongation.

Normal handling precautions should be observed.

Treatment should not be continued for more than 3 weeks. If ocular irritation develops, the frequency of application should be reduced.
