- Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) - low dose oral therapy is contraindicated
- Preexisting autoimmune disease
- Severe cardiac disease
- Severe pulmonary disease
- 'Brittle' diabetes
- CNS disorders
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug
