概要
オクスフェンダゾールは、主に牛に使用されるベンズイミダゾール系駆虫薬であり、肺虫、回虫（オステルターグ胃虫の休眠幼虫を含む）、および条虫の駆除と制御に用いられます。
- 広域スペクトル：さまざまな病原性内部寄生虫に対して有効です。
- 適応外使用：馬、羊、ヤギ、豚、犬にも頻繁に使用されます。
- 臨床のポイント：オクスフェンダゾールはフェンベンダゾールの活性スルホキシド代謝物です。他の多くのベンズイミダゾール系薬剤と比較して消化管からの吸収が良く、より高い血漿中濃度と長い滞留時間をもたらします。
作用機序
Oxfendazole exerts its antiparasitic effects by disrupting intracellular microtubular transport systems within the parasite.
- Binds selectively to and damages tubulin → prevents tubulin polymerization → inhibits microtubule formation.
- At higher concentrations, it disrupts metabolic pathways and inhibits key metabolic enzymes, including malate dehydrogenase and fumarate reductase, ultimately depleting the helminth's energy reserves and causing death.

- Hypersensitivity reactions (theoretically possible secondary to antigen release by dying parasites, particularly at high dosages)
注意事項
Warning: Not for use in female dairy cattle of breeding age. A 7-day slaughter withdrawal is required when using at labeled doses in cattle.
- Use cautiously in debilitated or sick horses.
- Hypersensitivity reactions may occur due to massive parasite die-off.

Concurrent use is contraindicated; abortions in cattle and death in sheep have been reported after using these compounds together.

Absorbed more readily from the GI tract compared to most other benzimidazole compounds. In dogs, peak levels occur at 8 hours post-administration.
分布
In dogs, oxfendazole plasma concentrations are significantly higher and resident times longer than that of either fenbendazole or albendazole following single oral administration.
代謝
Absorbed oxfendazole is metabolized (and vice-versa) to the active compound, fenbendazole (sulfoxide) and the sulfone.
消失
Elimination half-life is reported to be about 7.5 hours in sheep and 5.25 hours in goats.
過剰投与
Safety Profile: Oxfendazole has a wide margin of safety.
Doses of 10 times those recommended elicited no adverse reactions in horses tested. It is highly unlikely that this compound would cause serious acute toxicity when given alone.

保管・安定性
Store at room temperature and protect from light. Discard any unused suspension 24 hours after it has been reconstituted.

- 投与方法：投与前に経口懸濁液をよく振ってください。
- 食用動物への制限：牛の場合、厳格な7日間の休薬期間（と畜前）が必要です。搾乳中の乳牛に対するFDAの承認はありません。
