概要
膵酵素サプリメントは、膵外分泌不全（EPI）の臨床症状をコントロールするために使用される外因性補充療法です。これらのサプリメントには、リパーゼ、プロテアーゼ、アミラーゼの混合物が含まれています。
臨床のポイント： EPI患者では低コバラミン血症がよく見られるため、ビタミンB12（コバラミン）の併用療法により有効性が著しく向上することがあります。制酸剤の併用は一般的に費用対効果が低く、給与前に酵素を食事と混ぜて事前培養（プレインキュベーション）する必要はありません。新鮮な生の豚膵臓や冷凍豚膵臓も有効な代替品となり得ますが、入手が限られており、病原体摂取のリスクがあります。
作用機序
Provides exogenous replacement of pancreatic enzymes:
- Lipase → hydrolyses dietary triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol.
- Protease → cleaves peptide bonds to break down dietary proteins.
- Amylase → hydrolyses complex carbohydrates into simpler sugars. These actions restore digestive capability in the small intestine, facilitating nutrient absorption and resolving maldigestion.

有害事象
- Contact dermatitis of the lips (with powdered non-coated enzymes)
- Offensive body/fecal odour
- Oral or oesophageal ulcers (with non-coated enzymes)
- Diarrhoea (at high doses)
- GI cramping (at high doses)
注意事項
Handler Safety: Powder spilled on hands should be washed off immediately to prevent skin irritation. Avoid inhaling powder as it causes mucous membrane irritation and may trigger asthma attacks in susceptible individuals. These risks are generally not associated with enteric-coated granules.
Patient Safety: Non-coated pancreatic enzymes may cause oral or oesophageal ulcers; dosing must always be followed with food or water.

Enzymes act locally in the gastrointestinal tract and are not absorbed intact into the systemic circulation.

Confined to the gastrointestinal lumen.

Digested and degraded by other enzymes and bacteria in the lower gastrointestinal tract.
消失
Excreted in the faeces.
過剰投与
High doses may cause diarrhoea and signs of gastrointestinal cramping. Reduce dose if these signs occur.

投与方法： 処方された量の粉末またはカプセルの中身を、ペットの毎回の食事にしっかりと混ぜてください。食事を置いて発酵させる必要はありません。口内炎を防ぐため、食後はすぐに水を飲ませるか食べ物を与えて、酵素を胃に流し込むようにしてください。
安全上の警告： 皮膚への刺激を避けるため、粉末を扱った後は手を洗ってください。気道を刺激したり喘息を引き起こす可能性があるため、粉末を吸い込まないようにしてください。
