概要

ポリビニルアルコールは、ドライアイの潤滑に使用される合成水性人工涙液です。​乾性角結膜炎（KCS）​の症例において、涙液分泌促進療法（局所シクロスポリンなど）の効果が現れるまでの間、眼表面の潤滑、涙液の保持、および患者の快適性を向上させます。

​臨床のポイント：​ ヒプロメロースよりも付着性が高く、粘度が低いです。ただし、非常に頻繁な点眼（通常1時間ごと）が必要なため、コンプライアンスが悪くなる可能性があります。頻繁な投与が困難な場合は、より長時間作用する人工涙液（架橋ヒアルロン酸やカルボマーゲルなど）の検討が必要です。

作用機序

Acts as a lacromimetic (tear substitute). It mimics the aqueous layer of the trilaminar tear film, providing physical lubrication and moisture to the corneal and conjunctival surfaces.

Patient compliance is poor if administered >q4h; consider using a longer acting tear replacement.

Normal ophthalmic preparation handling precautions should be observed to prevent contamination of the dropper tip.
