概要
クエン酸ナトリウムは浸透圧性下剤であり、通常、便軟化剤（アルキルスルホ酢酸ナトリウム、ラウリルスルホ酢酸ナトリウム、ラウリル硫酸ナトリウムなど）とともにマイクロ浣腸として製剤化されます。主に便秘の治療や、直腸鏡検査およびX線検査のための下部消化管の処置に低容量浣腸として使用されます。

作用機序
Acts as an osmotic laxative → causes water to be retained within the lumen of the GI tract. The addition of a stool softener lowers surface tension → augments the laxative action by allowing water to penetrate and soften the feces.

過剰投与
Excessive or repeated use may lead to severe water and electrolyte disturbances, including dehydration and hypernatremia. Treatment is supportive, focusing on rehydration and electrolyte correction.
