テトラカイン (アメトカイン)
**テトラカイン**（別名**アメトカイン**）は、主に眼表面（角膜および結膜嚢）の局所麻酔に使用される局所麻酔薬です。 > **臨床のポイント：** プロキシメタカインなどの代替薬と比較して、点眼時の結膜刺激や痛みが強いため、小動物の臨床ではあまり使用されません。重篤な角膜毒性があるため、継続的な治療目的で処方してはなりません。
作用機序: Local anaesthetic action is dependent on the reversible blockade of the **voltage-gated sodium channels** → prevents the influx of sodium → inhibits the propagation of an action potential along the nerve fibre. Sensory nerve fibres are blocked before motor nerve fibres, allowing a selective sensory blockade at low doses.
