개요

​베탁솔롤(Betaxolol)​은 주로 반려견의 ​녹내장​ 관리에 사용되는 국소 안과용 약물입니다. 심장 선택성(베타-1) 베타 차단제로서 안방수 생성을 감소시켜 안압을 낮춥니다. 단독으로 사용하거나 탄산탈수효소 억제제와 같은 다른 국소 항녹내장 약물과 병용할 수 있습니다. 또한 편측성 원발성 폐쇄각 녹내장이 있는 반려견의 반대편 눈에 예방 목적으로도 사용됩니다.

​임상 경고:​ 국소적으로 투여하더라도 전신 흡수가 발생할 수 있습니다. 조절되지 않는 심부전이나 천식이 있는 환자에게는 극도로 주의해서 사용하거나 피하십시오.

작용 기전

Betaxolol acts as a beta-1 selective beta-blocker. It works by blocking beta-adrenoreceptors in the ciliary body → decreasing the production of aqueous humour → lowering intraocular pressure (IOP).

과다투여

​Clinical Pearl:​ Overdosage via the ophthalmic route is rare but excessive application may lead to systemic absorption. Signs of systemic beta-blocker overdose include bradycardia, hypotension, and bronchospasm. Treatment is supportive and symptomatic.
