개요
플라복세이트는 주로 반려견의 배뇨근 과도경직(과민성 방광 또는 절박성 요실금)에 대한 대체 치료제로 사용되는 요로 진경제입니다。
- 페닐프로판올아민(PPA)과 같은 표준 요법만으로 요실금을 조절하지 못한 경우에 특히 유용합니다。

작용 기전
Flavoxate exerts its effects through two primary mechanisms:
- Direct Smooth Muscle Relaxation: It acts directly on the smooth muscle of the urinary tract, reducing spasms and increasing bladder capacity.
- Antimuscarinic Activity: It competitively antagonizes muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in the detrusor muscle → inhibits parasympathetic nerve impulses → reduces involuntary bladder contractions.
Unlike pure anticholinergics, its direct musculotropic effect provides targeted relief of urinary tract spasms.

과다투여
The approximate oral LD-50 for rats and mice are 4300 mg/kg and 1800 mg/kg respectively. Treatment should be supportive and symptomatic.
