개요
히드록시카르바미드(일반적으로 히드록시우레아로 알려짐)는 대사길항성 항종양제입니다. 수의학에서는 주로 진성 적혈구 증가증 및 백혈병과 같은 골수 증식성 질환의 치료, 비만세포종 및 개 수막종의 보조 치료에 사용됩니다.

작용 기전
Hydroxycarbamide inhibits the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase → prevents the conversion of ribonucleotides to deoxyribonucleotides → depletes the intracellular pool of precursors essential for DNA synthesis and repair.
It is a cell-cycle specific agent acting primarily in the S-phase, but it may also arrest cells at the G1-S border.

- Cardiovascular changes (increased diastolic BP/HR, decreased systolic BP)
주의
Cytotoxic Handling: Must be handled with appropriate precautions (gloves, avoiding splitting/crushing).
- Feline Sensitivity: Cats are at greater risk of myelosuppression compared to dogs; weekly haematology is mandatory at the start of therapy.
- Renal Impairment: Use with caution in patients with renal dysfunction; dose reduction may be required.
- Other Cautions: Use cautiously in patients with a history of urate stones, or those that have received previous chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
