개요
니텐피람(Nitenpyram)은 개와 고양이의 성충 벼룩을 빠르게 구제하기 위해 주로 사용되는 속효성, 전신성 경구용 네오니코티노이드계 살충제입니다.
임상 요점:
- 작용 발현이 매우 빠르지만(벼룩이 30분 이내에 숙주에서 떨어지기 시작함) 잔류 활성이 없습니다(효과 지속 시간은 24~48시간에 불과함).
- 벼룩의 알, 유충 또는 미성숙 형태는 죽이지 못하므로 급성 벼룩 감염에 매우 효과적이나, 종합적인 벼룩 구제를 위해서는 곤충 생장 조절제(IGR) 또는 지속성 성충 구제제와 병용해야 합니다.
- 허가 외 용도로 파충류 등 다양한 종의 구더기증(myiasis) 치료에도 사용됩니다.
작용 기전
Nitenpyram acts as an agonist at insect-specific nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs).
- Ingestion by flea via blood meal → Binds to alpha-4-beta-2 nicotinic receptors on postsynaptic membranes → Blocks acetylcholine-mediated neuronal transmission → Continuous nerve firing → Spastic paralysis and rapid death of the insect.
- It is highly selective (3500 times more selective for insect receptors than vertebrate receptors) and does not inhibit acetylcholinesterase, contributing to its exceptionally high safety margin in mammals.

Not labeled to be used in animals under 2 pounds of body weight or under 4 weeks of age. Probably safe to use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating animals.

Rapidly and practically completely absorbed after oral administration. Peak levels occur about 80 minutes after dosing in dogs; about 40 minutes in cats.
분포
Enters the systemic circulation and is consumed by adult fleas during a blood meal.

Minimal metabolism.
배설
Excreted primarily unchanged in the urine. In dogs, about 3% of a dose is excreted in the feces; in cats about 5% is excreted in the feces.
과다투여
Nitenpyram is relatively safe in high dosages to mammals.
- The oral LD50 in rats is approximately 1.6 grams/kg.
- Cats or dogs given 10 times the usual dose for 14 days showed no untoward effects.
- In the circumstance of a massive overdose, contact an animal poison control center for additional guidance.

보관·안정성
Commercially available nitenpyram tablets should be stored at room temperature (15-30°C; 59-86°F). Shelf life is reported to be 3 years if stored below 25°C (76°F).
