개요
원래 퇴행성 골관절염 치료제로 개발되었으나 각막 궤양 관리에 흥미로운 특성을 가짐. 개와 말의 무통성 각막 궤양 치유를 촉진하는 데 효과적이라는 일화적 보고가 있음.
작용 기전
Inhibits multiple degradative enzymes (lysozyme, hyaluronidase, and serine proteases) → decreases prostaglandin E2 synthesis → reduces production of toxic superoxide radicals → increases synthesis of collagen proteoglycans and hyaluronic acid.
안전성·주의사항
주의
Surgical keratectomy remains the most reliable treatment for indolent ulcers. Efficacy in dogs is currently anecdotal.
