개요

티몰롤은 국소 비선택적 베타 차단제로 주로 ​개와 고양이의 녹내장 관리​에 사용됩니다. 단독으로 사용하거나 국소 탄산탈수효소 억제제와 같은 다른 녹내장 약물과 병용할 수 있습니다.

​임상 경고:​ 티몰롤은 축동을 유발하므로 포도막염, 전안부 수정체 탈구 또는 동공 차단 환자에게는 적합하지 않을 수 있습니다. 전신 흡수가 발생하여 심혈관계에 영향을 미칠 수 있습니다.

작용 기전

Timolol acts as a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist. It decreases aqueous humour production via beta-adrenoreceptor blockade in the ciliary body, which subsequently lowers intraocular pressure (IOP).

Normal precautions should be observed for safety and handling.

​Systemic Absorption:​ Be aware that topical application can lead to systemic absorption, potentially causing bradycardia and reduced blood pressure. Use with caution in small patients or those with pre-existing cardiovascular or respiratory disease.

흡수

Absorbed locally into the eye; systemic absorption can occur via the nasolacrimal duct and conjunctival vessels.

분포

Distributes well into ocular tissues.

대사

Systemically absorbed drug is metabolized in the liver.

배설

Excreted primarily via the kidneys if systemically absorbed.

과다투여

Overdosage via topical application is rare but may lead to exacerbated systemic effects such as bradycardia, hypotension, and bronchospasm. Treatment is supportive and symptomatic. Excess topical product should be flushed from the eye with sterile saline.
